Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that I've moved to a new (and last, hopefully) place on the web. I'd love if you'd come visit me there when you have time. My new blog is called Simply Hue Designs. :)
Hope you're doing well and that I'll see you soon!
Woo hoo!! My pink Polaroid i phone case is on the FRONT PAGE of Society 6 this morning! That's really encouraging to me because I have been really slacking off when it comes to my photography lately. I needed this little motivator. ;)
Hey, hope you're having a great Saturday so far! It's been a pretty lazy one for me, but I have managed to take and edit a few new photos. You can find these with or without frames (I think they'd look nice with white frames, too) in my Society 6 shop. Here's a link to the PINK CAMERA image and one to the BLUE CAMERA!
If you can believe it, I have none of my own photos hanging on our walls .... not even one! My husband told me today that we have some credit from the old lab I used to use and we need to use it up. I'm not sure how it works exactly, but they wouldn't refund our money. That left me with choosing some of my own photos and since I'm pretty sure my family and friends are a little tired of receiving my photos for every birthday and holiday (a little exaggeration), I decided to pick out a few for our condo. These are the ones I finalists! :)
"Jewelry making for me started in a rough way some fifteen years ago. I had an accident at the building site (I am a civil engineer) that left me incapacitated and unable to do that kind of work any longer. After a long convalescence I decided to move from the Netherlands with my then adolescent daughter, Estella, to Turkey, a favorite holiday spot for us. The climate was more favorable for my injuries and the cost of living was a lot cheaper which suited my dramatically diminished income. And this has proved to be a sound decision. My physical mobility improved greatly, and the beauty of the country, the colors, the traditions, and even the smells are a daily source of inspiration. I have always had a passion for handcrafts, but of course, being a single ‘Mum' with a full time job, it had been years since I had had the time and tranquility to do something with my hands. Well, here was my opportunity!"
Isn't her story inspiring? She used her challenging circumstances to move to an area she loved and to rediscover her talents. I'm in awe of her work and hope you'll take a few minutes (minimum!) to browse through her shops! Vicki
If you're a creative person, you most likely have ideas of new creative pursuits you'd like to take on down the road. And, if you're like me you start getting pretty bored if you don't switch things up from time to time. For some time now I've been wanting to try my hand at fashion illustration. In fact, I just purchased some new graphite pencils, new thin-line black pens, and some professional water color paints. After seeing these gorgeous illustrations by Katie Rodgers of Paper Fashion, I'm ready to dive in! The challenge is going to be not to compare my beginner illustrations with hers. While growing up I drew and painted every free moment I had. But sadly, I've barely held a pencil or paintbrush in my hand for over 25 years. You have to start somewhere, though, right?
Is there a creative activity you've been putting off for way too long? What creative dreams or ambitions do you have? I'd love to hear about them! : )
Good morning! What do you think of this cheerful home? I admire the homeowner for her bold use of COLOR ... from vibrant neon pinks, oranges, and yellows to the soothing colors of lavendar and blue, she is not afraid to push the envelope when it comes to COLOR. And, what a unique hanging lamp in the first and second photos!
Good morning, everyone ... happy Friday!! When I started Simply Hue almost four years ago I had a Friday theme of "5 Beautiful Things". I'm going to try to revive that on my new blog because I think it's such a nice way to start the weekend. Aren't these images amazing? Although, I love creating feminine pastel photos for my Etsy shop, I'd really like to get into different types of photography ... especially nature!
Have a relaxing weekend doing the things you enjoy! xo
